Krantz / Chilled Systems Krantz chilled/radiant products include: one-way discharge active chilled beam two-way discharge active chilled beam commercial passive chilled beam high capacity passive chilled beam multiservice chilled beam radiant chilled ceiling convective chilled ceiling facade heating/cooling Krantz commercial office passive chilled beams, specialised high capacity passive chilled beams for high heat load applications such as TV studios, one-way blow active chilled beams, two-way blow active chilled beams and multiservice chilled beams for offices, as well as radiant chilled ceilings and convective chilled ceilings provide both highly energy efficient cooling to spaces and improved indoor air quality. Due to the water-side cooling, ducting in the ceiling void is minimised, often allowing slab-to-slab dimensions to be reduced. Fan energy savings are achieved due to the reduced airflow rates. Passive chilled beams can be used in cooling-only applications, whereas active chilled beams are suitable for both cooling and heating. Chilled ceilings are usually only used for cooling, but may be used to provide limited heating. Krantz chilled beams and chilled ceilings are available in standard configurations and finishes or can be customised to suit architectural and building requirements. Laboratory testing of customised solutions, as well as of project specific mock-ups, allows innovative design solutions to be turned into functional practice without incurring risk. Furthermore, Krantz has pioneered concepts and research into the application of chilled beams and chilled ceilings in high heat load and high humidity applications, including the tropics, and provides design advice and strategies for system design, layout and controls to prevent condensation in such applications.
